    Dear Colleagues,

Aging involves changes in the complex regulatory interplay among cells, organs, and systemsm, which is characterized by functional decline in homeostatic regulation and vital cellular events. This process can be associated with the development of cardiovascular diseases. Furthermore, aging-induced biological alterations that are associated with CVDs through various aspect, such as structural, biochemical, and functional modifications; autonomic nervous system (ANS) dysregulation; epigenetic alterations; and atherosclerosis and stroke development. Aging-mediated structural and biochemical modifications coupled with gradual loss of ANS regulation, vascular stiffening, and deposition of collagen and calcium often disrupt cardiovascular system homeostasis. Therefore, the understanding of the aging-mediated changes remains promising towards effective diagnosis, discovery of new drug targets, and development of new therapies for the treatment of CVDs. We welcome original clinical, pre-clinical or basic research papers. Reviews that identify problems or challenges, present a dedicated overview or provide solutions or prospects will also be considered.

Research articles, Review articles as well as Therapeutic Brief are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. APT is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by ANT.
