    Dear Colleagues,

Population aging has become a global issue. Aging is a gradual and irreversible pathophysiological process with the declines in tissue and cell functions, and acts as the dominant risk of various aging-related diseases. The typical aging-related diseases, such as neurodegenerative diseases, cardiovascular diseases, metabolic diseases, musculoskeletal diseases and immune system diseases, pose a serious threat to human health and challenge the development of effective intervention strategies. In recent years, increasing evidence indicates healthy nutritional interventions are beneficial for delaying individual aging and reducing the occurrence of age-related diseases, proven as a promising anti-aging approach. For example, a series of small molecules derived from plant polyphenols known as senolytics and senomorphics, which specifically target senescent cells, have been demonstrated to be effective at extending both healthspan and lifespan, alleviating idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and osteoarthritis in animal models. Nevertheless, the safe and effective nutritional factors with application value, as well as their potential targets and mechanisms of action in the intervention of aging and aging-related diseases, remain under active investigation. Contributions to this Special Issue will further explore the fields of nutritional interventions in aging and aging-related diseases and provide a theoretical and molecular basis for developing new strategies for human health and treating aging-related diseases. Well-designed research articles and reviews on these related topics, especially at the molecular level, are welcome. We wish you useful and fruitful reading, and your patients, happy aging through healthy nutrition.
